Who is responsible
Dr Craig Wing, based in Johannesburg, South Africa, is the responsible party for personal information collected through craigwing.com under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Questions about this notice, or requests concerning personal information, can be sent to hello@craigwing.com.
What is collected
Information is collected in two ways, and in neither case is more requested than the purpose needs.
- Details sent directly, through the booking form or by email: name, organisation, email address, the date and location of the event, and anything else included in the message.
- Technical information collected automatically when the site is used: IP address, browser and device type, the pages visited and how the visitor arrived at them. This is gathered through Google Analytics, connected via Google Site Kit, and through the security and spam-protection services that keep the site and its forms from being abused.
Why it is used
Enquiry details are used to respond to the enquiry, to assess and prepare any keynote, hosting, workshop or advisory engagement that follows, and to keep a record of that engagement. Technical information is used in aggregate to understand how the site is used and to protect it against attack and spam. Personal information is not sold, and it is not used for marketing that was not requested.
Who it is shared with
Information is shared only with the service providers that host, run, measure and secure the site, and only to the extent they need it to provide that service. Some of these providers, including Google, process information outside South Africa, under their own data protection terms and safeguards. Information may also be disclosed where the law requires it.
Cookies
The site uses cookies for analytics and security. Analytics runs in Google consent mode, with advertising and personalisation signals denied by default. Cookies can be blocked or deleted in the browser settings, although some features of the site may then work less smoothly.
How long it is kept
Enquiry details are kept for as long as is needed to respond to the enquiry and to deliver and administer any resulting engagement, and thereafter only for as long as legal, tax or accounting obligations require. Analytics information is kept in aggregate according to the retention settings of the analytics service.
Rights under POPIA
Anyone whose personal information is held may ask to see it, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to its processing, by writing to hello@craigwing.com. A complaint can also be lodged with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
