Published in South Africa by Penguin Random HouseFour Future Seasons is based on Craig’s PhD, and gives leaders a way to plan for more than one future at a time.
Summer
Summer is the future the data already points to, where experience and traditional planning tools work.
Spring
Spring is the future once believed possible and since forgotten, which tends to return after a shock breaks old habits.

Autumn
Autumn is where the signs of change are visible to anyone willing to look.
Winter
Winter is where there is no data and no precedent to draw on, so the only option is to stay lean, agile and entrepreneurial.

The cover

The South African edition, published by Penguin Random House, is now in its third print run. The international edition, released in 2026, carries a different cover.
The cover of the international edition shows a baobab, a tree typically found in hot countries, standing in snow. A baobab under snow is not a low-probability event, it is an impossibility: the difference between a measured risk and what the economist Frank Knight called uncertainty. The futures that undo organisations are rarely the ones considered and dismissed as unlikely. They are the ones that never seemed possible at all. The international edition splits the tree into four quadrants, one for each season.
